ZDDZ on Fashionsoundtrack.com

ZDDZ seems to be the outfits all musicians seem to wear. Rita Ora, Lianne La Havas, Nicole Scherzinger, Aluna (from duo AlunaGeorge) and Nicola Roberts are avid followers of the brand. What’s even more exciting is the fact that ZDDZ are now stocked in Wolf and Badger in Notting Hill.

Bomber jackets, blazers and oversized blouses tackle graffiti print in a delicate and decadent fashion, where black and white geometric and paisley prints rumble up a ghetto aesthetic that could be easily worn in any environment. Dark inspiration from life in urban Russia is given a retro revival and spin, with magazine prints from hip hop artists summoning a sense of controlled chaos in the kaleidoscope designs.

There’s an undeniable essence of East End style about ZDDZ, where the party monster crowd could quite happily hijack the collection for nightclub style beats. Dasha is a designer that understands the urban obsession from the street stylers that take a trend and make it their own. Some of the most influential bloggers have worn the collection to New York and London Fashion Week, and celebrities are similarly addicted, with Nicola Roberts rocking up to an event in a ZDDZ bomber jacket.

This is a collection that embodies decadent rebellion…

Lianne loves ZDDZ

Lianne La Havas mentions ZDDZ as her new favourite brand in her interview with The Luxe Life:

‘When I was first introduced to the beautiful UK singer, Lianne La Havas, she was perched on a vintage sofa on the second floor of Toronto’s Opera House Theatre. Wearing a “tough” (as La Havas describes it) printed bodycon number complete with full sleeves and mock turtleneck by ZDDZ London (her new favourite brand), I immediately knew I was in for a treat…’

Wolf & Badger are now famously known for their inventive parties and fashion presentations. We were invited to attend the A/W13/14 ZDDZ London presentation. Held at Wolf & Badger’s Notting Hill store, the small, smart space was turned into a cirque-like venue. Glittering handmade cupcakes, vintage popcorn and candyfloss machines topped off with fantastic DJs really helped to set the ambiance of the collection.

The collection is based around this successful play with silk and colourful prints, which really took centre stage, in front of long, pleated leather skirts, cropped knits and metallics. The knee-length skirts had an intriguing open kangaroo-looking front pouch which proved stylish and practical during the presentation, although this may only truly flatter those without a bit of a tummy, due to the extra material.  The collection was bang on trend.

Fashion blogger Byron London was spotted at Somerset House wearing ZDDZ ’1991′ printed bomber jacket.

Why 1991?.. The print was based on 1990′s magazines I kept from back when I was 15-16 years old like ’100 best rap songs’ etc. I also used bits of old Russian newspapers and ads from 90s magazines saying things like ‘Ketamine: friend or foe?’ or ‘Sound of future’. I am obsessed with the visual language of that time, how bold and simple graphic contexts were, how naive and therefore nice they used to be. There was not a lot of advertisement and if it was a few random ad pages in the mag, those were weird and awesome!

Last night Nottinghill’s Wolf & Badger hosted a very special private party where the fashion pack saw ZDDZ’s AW13/14 collection for the first time that was previously a closely guarded secret. The new collection evolves with the iconic ZDDZ prints but this time the tailoring commands you to stop in your tracks and admire the female form. Models wearing the AW13/14 collection dotted around the shop had a playful energy and sleek ponytails to go alongside the clothes. Guests enjoyed candy floss, popcorn and handmade ZDDZ cupcakes with their cheeky Thursday night booze.

I wore a ZDDZ monochrome blazer with a letter print scarf and normally I’m camera shy but the clothes gave me the confidence to pose without covering my face with my hands. ZDDZ designer Dasha Selyanova wore a piece from her new collection that has made it onto my wish list, the red structured jacket that embodies the entire collection.
When it was time to go home we were given goody bags filled with Katy Perry eyelashes, sc-fi light style teeth whitener that I’ll be trying tonight and a wonderful 2013 diary.

It was a wonderful fashion fabulous packed night which did justice to the first-class collection.

Well deserved title, if you ask us!

‘Lianne kills the formal fashion game as well, recently hitting the red carpet at the Barclaycard Mercury Prize ceremony wearing a white long-sleeved gown. It might seem simple, but the body-hugging number was chic enough to let the rest of Lianne- including her dramatic cat eye and gorgeous waves- truly shine. As easy as it is for the songbird to go neutral, that doesn’t mean she can’t crank up the heat! …now THAT’S eye-popping. Finally, she showed a quirkier side at the Q Awards in September dressed in a abstract print frock by up-and-coming designer ZDDZ London. #killinit’
