On April 12th 1960 the Vostok 8K72K satellite ship was launched into orbit with the first cosmonaut of the Earth, Yuri Gagarin.

60 years later the Museum of Cosmonauts in Moscow is celebrating this event and has invited Graphic agency Viuga and ZDDZ to mark this '“first” with a new visual identity and mini range of “motivation” garments.

The central print on garments references the sunset on the orbital horizon and the flames accompanying the return of the lander to Earth. The ‘Peshka font’ by Maria Doreuli is based on industrial typefaces from the archives of her grandfather, Russian aircraft manufacturer Vladimir Petlyakov.

In the spirit of “firsts” the ZDDZ “motivation” garments play with the idea of aspiration and intention, of the small steps we take in order to think big. Combining three basic clothing items: a T-shirt, a sweatshirt and a shopping bag become expressive tools and messages of who we are and the actions we make throughout the day.
